The Seagate Team members showed their commitment to the environment by supporting local organization, Community Greening. The Palm Beach tree nursery serves as a habitat for thousands of native and fruit trees.

The plants will be replanted in the future to improve the atmosphere and offer much-needed shade to nearby communities.

With an ambitious plan to plant 10,000 trees, Community Greening plans to make a big difference in the years to come.

"I am incredibly proud of my team for their hard work and dedication to giving back to the community.
We are immensely proud to be a part of such a remarkable and amazing organization,"
said Alex Schnoeller, Managing Director at The Seagate.

Founded in 2016, Community Greening, an urban forestry non-profit based in Palm Beach County, has rapidly grown throughout South Florida.

Working in tandem with the local community, this organization strives to improve the environment and uplift the region by implementing tree-planting and green space revitalization projects.

They have successfully planted over 10,500 trees with 5,000 volunteers of all ages, ranging from West Palm Beach to Deerfield Beach. Through their tree giveaways and plantings in public parks, schoolyards, residential yards, and urban orchards,

Community Greening was selected as the Southeast Partner of the Year by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. They have also been awarded the prestigious Spirit of Arbor Day award from the Arbor Day Foundation.

Book Reading and Autograph Session

Black Beach: A Community, an Oil Spill, and the Origin of Earth Day

The Seagate is delighted to present a book reading and autograph session with Shaunna & John Stith, the authors of Black Beach: A Community, an Oil Spill, and the Origin of Earth Day. This remarkable account of the foundation of Earth Day, recounted through the perspective of an imaginary child, will motivate people of all ages to take action to protect their planet!

This special event will take place on Saturday, April 15th.

In Black Beach: A Community, an Oil Spill, and the Origin of Earth Day, the events that transpire serve as a catalyst for Sam and her peers to join forces in the fight for a cleaner, greener Earth. Despite her initial sense of helplessness as she watches her loved ones struggle to deal with the effects of the oil spill, Sam eventually comes to understand that she isn't alone in her care for the planet. As a result of the disaster, an entire wave of individuals become aware of their environment, thus spawning a larger movement which would later be recognized as Earth Day.

As an added bonus, a representative from the Sandoway Discovery Center will be present to explain how families can translate the message of the book into action the following weekend as part of the Great American Cleanup!

Just one week after this special event, Shaunna & John will be one of the headliners on the Children’s Stage at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books – the largest literary event in the nation

On February 21st, Black Beach was released worldwide and is scheduled for release in Japan, South Korea, and Germany. Copies of the book will be sold at April 15th event.

5 Tips for Creating a Healthy Lifestyle

WORLD HEALTH DAY

There is no doubt that World Health Day is a reminder that we should focus on our well-being every day, and the Seagate Wellness Team is here to provide support every day of the year.

To get you started, here are 5 helpful tips for creating a healthy lifestyle:

1. Move It:

The Mayo Clinic recommends at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. This can improve our overall energy levels, mood, and reduce our chances of developing chronic health conditions, like diabetes or high blood pressure.

2. Nourish Our Bodies:

Eating a balanced diet is essential for optimal health. Try to include a variety of nutrient-rich foods like veggies, fruits, grains, and protein dense foods such as seafood, lean meat and eggs in your meals. It's imperative to limit unhealthy ingredients, such as saturated and trans fats, added sugars, and sodium. In addition, we should keep our alcohol consumption to no more than 1 drink per day (for women) and 2 drinks per day (for men).

Ensure sufficient rest:

There is a very strong connection between your immune system and sleep quality and quantity. It is important to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep each night to keep your immune system functioning properly.

Stay Hydrated.

Keep your body hydrated: Water is your friend - ditch sugary drinks and stay hydrated!

Find Social Connections:

Spending time with family and friends is essential for wellbeing, so why not suggest some healthy activities such as getting together for tea, a sporting event, a beach or park walk, or trying out a new healthy restaurant?

These tips will help you take control of your health and feel great all year long.
